Filming for Rolling Stone

Free Range Puppies has collaborated in the making of ‘Remembering Woodstock’, a short documentary produced by Rolling Stone magazine.

We directed and filmed two of the main interviews included in the story, and that feature Country Joe McDonald, Musician & Co-Founder of ‘Country Joe and the Fish’, and Greil Marcus, the Rolling Stone Contributing Editor that was reporting on the ground during Woodstock.

Moses, supported by the San Francisco Film Society

Happy New Year to all of you!

Here’s some great news: Moses has been accepted as part of the FilmHouse residency program at the San Francisco Film Society. This means that we’ll enjoy a 12-month office residence to be able to edit the film in their beautiful and inspiring facilities.

We’re filled with humility and pride, knowing that such a prestigious organization is supporting our project, selected among dozens of film applicants. It goes without saying that we’re stoked to be a part of a wonderful and diverse community of filmmakers.

We thank KTVU Fox 2 for hosting us to talk about our upcoming feature-length documentary titled Moses, and Stories Behind The Fog, the multimedia platform we’ve created to compile and share 100 stories of people affected by homelessness in the Bay Area.

We’re proud to be part of the San Francisco Homeless Project, a joint effort of more than 70 media organizations dedicated to covering the causes and solutions to homelessness in San Francisco.

Building the brand identity for a new resort in Barbados Island

We are working with Ramos Martinez Architects Inc. to build the brand identity for a marine resort located in Saint Lucy, one of the twelve parishes that make up Barbados. The assignment includes naming and tagline; logo, website and signage design; brand package, and digital and physical collateral.

New Talent at Free Range Puppies

We are stoked to have three new interns with us. Kyle, Jade and Maria (from left to right on the picture) will be involved in the main projects we’re currently working on. We asked them: Why do you want to intern with us? Here are their responses:

Kyle (intern copywriter): Free Range Puppies is doing work that I appreciate. I chose to work with them because they are doing more than just selling things. I responded immediately to their focus on storytelling and conversation. The team all really seems to care about the work they’re doing, and that is a great motivation to care about it as well.

Jade (intern copywriter): Being in my last semester at the Academy of Art I was looking for an internship that would help me continue to grow as a creative and a copywriter. When I heard about Free Range Puppies and read about their philosophy and viewed their work, I knew I wanted to work for them. I loved that they took on projects with meaning and strive to bring social change. That is something I’m passionate about and why I want to get into advertising. Rather than just selling to consumers, I want to change the world. I feel that’s what FRP is all about. It also helped that I love dogs and the thought of people a “Pup” was the cutest idea to me.

Maria (intern producer): I knew that becoming an intern at Free Range Puppies would be an incredible opportunity for my career. It’s not only about the international experience (being from Spain and being able to do an internship in San Francisco is pretty amazing), but also about working on Moses’ film and on a storytelling platform we’re building to start changing the perception about homelessness. I’m sure I’ll learn so much. I’ll try to do my best every day.

Nuestro nuevo trabajo para Asevi

Bajo el lema “El reflejo más real de un suelo limpio”, acabamos de lanzar esta campaña para el friegasuelos Asevi Mio, de Pons Químicas.

Con este proyecto apostamos por alejarnos de los estereotipos que copan los anuncios de televisión en la categoría de productos de limpieza: “familias perfectas con hijos” que viven en “casas perfectas” para dar visibilidad a la gran diversidad de hogares reales donde se limpia y, sobre todo, se vive.

La campaña consta de cuatro anuncios de TV, cuatro gráficas, un microsite y acciones en redes sociales. Todas las piezas están protagonizadas por una pareja gay, un cuarentón que todavía vive felizmente en casa de sus padres, un padre de familia que se ocupa de las tareas del hogar y una viuda.

Además de en TV nacional, los spots se pueden ver en hogaresasevi.com y a finales de septiembre el microsite incorporará un concurso digital donde se podrá interactuar con los protagonistas de los anuncios y se sortearán felpudos personalizados entre todos aquellos que describan su hogar.

El insight de la campaña gira en torno al hecho de que la publicidad debería ser un reflejo de la realidad. Sin embargo, los anuncios en esta categoría insisten en dar voz a un solo tipo de hogar: el de las familias con hijos, cuando según el INE, este tipo de hogar sólo constituye el 34,9% de la población. ASEVI, en su voluntad de no ser sólo experto en limpieza, sino en hogares, pretende dar voz a los hogares reales caracterizados por su amplia diversidad. Una voz para la gente que vive sola (en España, según el INE, el 24% de los hogares son unipersonales); para las parejas del mismo sexo; para esas familias donde el hombre también contribuye en las tareas del hogar; para las casas con hijos cuarentones que siguen viviendo con sus padres…

Para Asevi Mio, éstos son hogares de verdad, reales, con imperfecciones y llenos de vida, con historias, y cada uno auténtico a su manera. Y es precisamente en ellos donde se limpia cada día.

La campaña está siendo un éxito en las redes sociales donde está generando muchísima conversación y además ha recibido la felicitación del Ministerio de Sanidad, Servicios Sociales e Igualdad que señala que “constituye un ejemplo positivo de cómo la publicidad puede ser creativa, notoria y eficaz, a la vez que socialmente responsable, fomentando la corresponsabilidad en el hogar y la igualdad, y eludiendo los estereotipos de género habituales en los anuncios de este tipo de producto”.

Estamos muy contentos de haber tenido esta oportunidad de desarrollar la creatividad y la producción de esta campaña.

Opening in Barcelona

Free Range Puppies was born in San Francisco in May of 2012 with the purpose of creating stories that stand up for a more meaningful world. Today, almost three years later, we’re thrilled to announce that our creative agency/production shop has opened a new office in Barcelona, located in the iconic Gracia neighborhood.

Our team in Spain will be lead by Will Acha, former Account Director at Wieden + Kennedy London, and Diana Orero, former Copywriter at Shackleton.

Please, take a look at FRP Barcelona’s first brainchild, an integrated campaign for a scented floor cleaner that reflects real homes in Spain, not the ones that cleaning products always show on TV: www.hogaresasevi.com

Both the San Francisco and Barcelona teams are working together on a new social media space expected to be launched this year, and on a feature-length documentary, titled ‘Moses.’

Filming for Globo TV International

Last week, we had the opportunity to shoot for ‘Mundo S/A’, a Brazilian weekly TV show that belongs to Globo TV International. ‘Mundo S/A’ focuses on businesses and industries that are different and innovative: http://globotv.globo.com/globo-news/mundo-sa/

Our filming took place in San Francisco’s China Town, the largest chinatown outside of Asia. There we spent the day following Brazilian TV host and journalist Renata Betti, as she set out to document the economic idiosyncrasy of this iconic neighborhood.

We look forward to seeing our footage (attaching a few screen shots below), as part of the upcoming episode of ‘Mundo S/A.’

Working with the Ann Martin Center

We’re very happy to announce this new relationship between Free Range Puppies and the Ann Martin Center (www.annmartin.org/), a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children, youth, and their families in Alameda County by providing psychotherapy, educational therapy, and diagnostic assessment.

We’ll be documenting a model of intervention that lends early positive school experiences and social-emotional skill-building in one of Oakland’s most notoriously marginalized schools.
